As the driving force behind the Namibian Journal of Environment (NJE), we are particularly pleased to announce the completion of Volume 9. This volume contains a range of themes – from a relatively novel insight into the bathing and drinking behaviour of raptors to the dietary potential of freshwater fish in Namibia. Volume 9 also delivered a publication with an all-ORC author team. Additionally, we are treated to a reflection on Namibia’s Community-based Natural Resource Management model, while Heydinger et al. dive into the dynamics between rural livelihoods and human-carnivore coexistence. Our shorter research reports include a botanical assessment of inselbergs in western Namibia, as well as a study on homing behaviour among translocated giraffes. Our ‘Monographs and Memoirs’ section is made up of updated taxonomic accounts of the Burchell’s Courser and the Lesser Grey Shrike. The NJE is a completely open access journal and you can read Volume 9 in its entirety online.
While Volume 9 is now closed for new submissions, we are already welcoming submissions for Volume 10. You can simply submit via the NJE website, but please familiarise yourself with the journal’s requirements before starting your submission. We do accept a range of submissions, including research articles and perspective pieces. With next year’s publication of Volume 10, the NJE celebrates its 9th year since inception and continues to provide a platform for Namibian environmental science.
